This detailed report provides data on several issues impacting gender equality in the workplace. Specifically, they have identified an issue that is at the core of the problem – the broken rung. They found that women are not being promoted at the same rates to manager as men, which is issue that impacts a woman throughout her career. Some of the interesting facts from the study include:
- About 1 in 5 C-suite executives is a woman—and only 1 in 25 C-suite executives is a woman of color.
- Women are not leaving their companies at higher rates than men.
- While women are breaking the glass ceiling, the broken rung remains a problem. For every 100 men
promoted and hired to manager, only 72 women are promoted and hired. - Black women and Latinas are more likely to be held back by the broken rung. For every 100 entry-level men who are promoted
to manager, just 68 Latinas and 58 Black women are promoted.
